Senior Brodryck Gravdal was nominated by the agriculture department as the schools’ student of the week. He is the son of Marisa Kack and Dale Gravdal.

“Brodryck has taken a variety of agriculture classes over his high school years. He has always been a positive influence and is willing to help out where needed,” the department said.

The Wicked Witch of the West, played by Kaylee Demmer, took the stage by storm during the Wizard of Oz performance put on by the Canby 7th-12th grade music and theater classes April 13. More pictures from the performance will be featured in the April 23 edition of the Canby News.

The Canby School Board met on Monday.

Elementary Principal Ryan Arndt gave a quick update. Everything is ready for MCA testing which started the week of the 15th. Elementary testing schedules were sent home.

Senior Adrian Esparza was nominated by the PE/health department as the schools’ student of the week. He is the son of Ashley Esparza and James Duncon Bulin, Sr.

“Adrian is an active participant in Lifetime Sports class. He consistently gives it his all!” the department said.

The high school production of The Wizard of Oz is coming to Canby this weekend, with choir director Elizabeth Billups directing.

Kolton Duis was joined by his parents (above), Jason and Katrina Duis, brother, Kamden and sister, Kendalyn, when signing his letter of intent to play basketball at Dakota Wesleyan University in Michell, S.D., March 28.
